And then he told them, “You are to go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. Mark 16:15 TLB
When Jesus spoke these words, He wasn’t suggesting what we could do, He was giving an order of what we should do.
Churches weren’t built to be filled with people, they were created with the purpose of training people in their spiritual gifts and their ministries to go into the nations and preach the good news of what Jesus did for us.
In Acts 1:8 Jesus gives the disciples a command, telling them that when the Holy Spirit came down upon them they would receive power and once that happened they had to bear witness of Jesus in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria and to the ends of the earth. But, when the day came and the Holy Spirit descended upon them the disciples stayed in Jerusalem; then came a great persecution and the disciples had to flee to Judea and Samaria, and that was how they started to spread out throughout the places Jesus had commanded them to go to.
We have to seek our gifts, our calling, our purpose and prepare ourselves towards that and then we have to go. God will give us the tools, the provision necessary, the moment and the place. We might not even have to leave our own country, maybe not even our city, but we have to be attentive to where God is calling us.
Many people are crying out for Jesus’s return, but what are we doing in order for Jesus to come back soon? Are we actively participating in His second coming or are we simply warming up the church benches on Sundays, waiting eternally for Him to return for his church?
God’s Word clearly says: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14 NIV
Currently, planet Earth has a population of 7.3 billion people, of which 1.6 billion has never heard about Jesus.
“We talk of the second coming, half the world has never heard of the first.” Oswald Smith
We still have a lot of work to do to even be thinking about the second coming of Christ. 158,857 people die every day and approximately 66,000 people die daily without ever having any access to the Gospel.
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14 NIV
This call isn’t just for the “missionaries”, it’s to everyone who believes in Jesus and yearns his return. Wake up, sleeper, get up and proclaim Jesus’s name to the nations, be a part of this great story. Ask God what your role is in all of this and start working towards the goal.
“Learn what your gift is and where He wants you to use it for His glory. Stop dreaming about a future call and start believing God and obeying Him today.” Dick Hillis
“The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed.” Hudson Taylor
